I uploaded with the Memory Sorter, but my stuff did not go to the right day(s). What happened?

When your digital camera captures a photo or video, it puts a date stamp inside that file. Eachday’s Memory Sorter reads this date stamp during the upload process and then puts it on that day. If Eachday’s Memory Sorter cannot read the date stamp, it will post that memory to “today’s” date.

There are a few possible reasons that a date stamp (also known as “meta data”) can be removed from an image or video:

• The most common cause by far – your camera’s date setting. The date on your camera is most likely not set correctly. Double-check that your camera’s date is correct. 90% of the time, that fixes the problem!

• Running a far second – Editing and re-saving. If you have opened a photo or video since taking it and changed or re-saved it, the date stamp may be removed. The Memory Sorter will not be able to read the date, and will post this memory to today’s date.

• Older digital cameras. It is rare nowadays, but some older model digital cameras may not write a date stamp to photos.

• Scanned Photos. Digital scans of photos do not have a date stamp of when that photo was originally taken.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE DATE ON MY MEMORIES IF THEY WERE UPLOADED TO THE WRONG DAY?

It is easy to correct the date on an entire Day’s contents or on an individual memory. To correct the date on an entire Day’s content, simply log-in to your account and go to the day needing date corrction. You will then see a “Move To” button listed in the menu options along the upper right. Click this and enter the correct date. That’s all!

Repeat the the same process for an individual memory (photo, video, or audio) – simple go to the full view of that memory by clicking it’s thumbnail, and click the “Move-To” button in the upper right.

HOW DO I UPLOAD MEMORIES THAT HAVE NO DATE STAMP TO CORRECT DATES?

Easy! Just log-in to your account and go to the day that you want to post that memory to (using the date entry fields above the calendar or by clicking the calendar itself), and then click “Add to This Day” to upload directly to that day. When you take this route, Eachday trusts you to know the dates of your memories and ignores whatever date stamp may exist in the file.

Some Eachdayers edit, color correct, monkey with and re-save all of their photos before uploading (thus removing the date stamp, depending on what software they use), so this is the primary method they use to upload. The only difference is that you need to remember the date the memory was captured.
